Inside the Big Bunny, Playboy’s Newly Minted Private Jet

Did you know that Playboy used to have a plane? The Big Bunny, as it was known, was a jet-black plane staffed by—you guessed it!—Playboy bunnies that welcomed Sonny and Cher, Elvis Presley, and Frank Sinatra as guests. While the original Big Bunny took its last flight in 1975, Playboy is bringing it back for 2021, and took its maiden voyage to Art Basel Miami with Richie Shazam in tow.

Model, photographer, and activist Shazam boarded Big Bunny 2.0 last week from New York to Miami, headed down to Miami to celebrate the return of the jet and the launch of BigBunny, the company’s new lifestyle brand. The festivities kicked off with the chance to lounge in the airplane’s roomy seats (no hunching over in coach!) alongside drag artist Gigi Goode. Good thing Shazam had access to some vintage Playboys and shrimp cocktail.

Once in Miami, Shazam attended Playboy’s bash inspired by Salvador Dalí at Casa Tua. Guests had the chance to look at specially commissioned works by Nina McNeely, Miranda Makaroff, Filip Ćustić, and Maria Forqué, which all reflected the surrealist mood. Wearing a yellow, cutout mini dress and white heels, Shazam looked right at home among the art and near fellow downtown babe Julia Fox, who wore an equally slinky slip dress. Below, see scenes from Shazam’s trip on Big Bunny to Miami.
