In between her full-time job and raising two daughters, Aussie mum Evelyn turns birthday dreams into realities.
And her own daughter’s 8th birthday party took social media by storm – as Evelyn created a celebration that came complete with customised thongs, a pamper station and swan décor.
“I am a full-time working mum who has no experience or training in party or even planning. But I just get these ideas and try and put them together,” Evelyn tells 7Lifestyle.
Her secret? Investing in a Cricut machine which Evelyn used to design every intricate detail – from the oversized swan lolly bags to the bedazzled custom thongs that each lucky guest took home.
“I love the party favours I created. I had so much fun putting them together and the kids were so excited with them,” Evelyn says.
“They even commented that they felt like it was their birthday as they were going home with so many goodies.”
While Evelyn is the mastermind behind her creations, it’s always her daughters who pick the theme of their birthday parties.
“It was a pamper party with a swan theme,” she says of her daughter’s 8th party.
After the birthday girl decides on the theme Evelyn turns to Pinterest to source her ideas before she starts crafting the décor.
Inside the party
Converting a large space in the back of her home into a pink wonderland, every square metre was thought out with DIY touches the mum designed – with the end result costing her around $1,000.
The 14 guests started at the picnic station were they were seated around a lowered white picnic table surrounded by pink cushions to sit on.
The table décor included personalised name plaques, vanity mirror, face towel and gold placemat with matching plates.
The lolly table was a sea of pink with a feather boa lining the streamer backdrop and the shimmering table cloth.
Various party favours crowded the table giving each guest multiple generous treats to remember the party by.
The homemade swan lolly bags were a centerpiece with the mum gluing a white and pink feather on the box forming the tail of the swan.
Neatly displayed on a free-standing clothes rack, each guest was able to collect a satin dressing gown before making their way to the pamper station.
Met with clear plastic chairs, the girls were able to sit back and relax.
The star of the show was Evelyn’s homemade balloon garland which she credits to the hours of YouTube tutorials.
“I have learnt how to make my own balloon garlands, backdrops and centerpieces from watching YouTube videos and it has saved me lots of money,” the mum says.
